In the H2 2025 edition of the LexisNexis® Insurance Demand Meter U.K., a biannual analysis of motor insurance shopping, switching and vehicle trends, consumer shopping and switching activity continued to moderate. As premiums eased, switching fell to the lowest level since Q1 2023. Across 2025 as a whole, approximately 17,000 fewer consumers per day shopped for motor insurance compared with 2024. However, rising repair costs and claims inflation mean this period of stability may prove short-lived.
The U.K. car parc continued to age through H2 2025 and the average car value fell. Meanwhile, Chinese car brands added a further dimension to the vehicle mix, doubling their share of personal lines policies in under three years.
These shifts underline the growing importance of vehicle-level data in helping insurance providers accurately assess and price a more diverse and ageing risk pool.
